In celebration of National Panda Day, the House of Fabergé have introduced a captivating new locket featuring the precious Giant Panda. The Fabergé Heritage Yellow Gold Diamond Panda Surprise Locket perfectly captures the beauty and significance of the creature with green guilloche detailing, yellow gold bamboo and careful hand engraving.
The Giant Panda is one of the most auspicious animals on our planet, particularly significant in Chinese culture. Here they symbolise peace, harmony and friendship and are considered warriors for their strength and power. Their black and white colour is also seen as the physical representation of Yin and Yang, and how the balance between these two bring about harmony and peace. On 16th March, we celebrate National Panda Day which aims to promote efforts to prevent their habitat from climate change and destruction.
Previously to 2016, Giant Pandas were considered an endangered species but fortunately, thanks to decades of conservation work, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has downgraded the species from endangered to vulnerable. It shows that conservation efforts are working and provides hope for the world's other threatened wildlife. In celebration of National Panda Day, Fabergé have launched a new addition to their Heritage family, the Yellow Gold Diamond & Green Guilloché Enamel Panda Surprise Locket.
Building on the Heritage collection’s love of surprise and wit, the Fabergé Heritage Yellow Gold Diamond & Green Guilloché Enamel Panda Surprise Locket features an adorable panda sat within a green egg-shaped pendant. The 22mm locket is hand crafted from 18 carat yellow gold and is beautifully hand painted with dark green enamel and set with brilliant cut white diamonds.
To match the forest green exterior, inside the pendant is a green chrysoprase stone base which seats the central creature. The panda itself is also created from solid yellow gold and coated in a black and white lacquer. For a few special touches, the panda also features sparkling black diamond eyes, little golden pawprints and holds a piece of gold bamboo. The Fabergé Heritage Yellow Gold Diamond & Green Guilloché Enamel Panda Surprise Locket is completed by a 50cm 18 carat gold yellow chain.
Peter Carl Fabergé was famous for his use of quirky animal creations, from his mass of animal sculptures to the colourful birds he would house within his famous Fabergé eggs. The modern-day Faberge jewellery collections continue his work by seamlessly integrating animal figures within surprise lockets, just like that of the new Fabergé Heritage Panda Pendant.
