Available only at UK retailers, the new Breitling Avenger Automatic 45 Seawolf watch delivers the same robust and resilient aesthetic we’ve come to know and love with a timeless black display, rotating bezel and a screw down case back displaying both its limited edition status out of 350 pieces and its heroic 3,000 metre water resistant rating.
It’s safe to say that no luxury watch brand has the same extensive links to aviation than Breitling. Back in the 1930’s, they established a reputation for unbeatable precision, creating onboard clocks and other equipment for aircrafts. Then in 1969, they launched their first Breitling pilot’s wristwatch with the legendary Navitimer, a durable yet attractive design offering chronograph complication and large steel pushers for ease of use in the cockpit. From then on, Breitling became known as a leader in aviation, working with some of the most prestigious international airlines during the golden age of commercial flight and making history with the world’s first Swiss wrist chronograph into space.
Securing their reputation even further was the Breitling Avenger watch which originally landed in 2001 and was later relaunched in 2019 with a slew of upgrades. The Avenger Seawolf model in particular has become a must-have for those in need of a timepiece ready for adventure as it offers pilot-ready functions alongside specifications worthy of a high-performance dive watch. The new UK exclusive Breitling Avenger Automatic 45 Seawolf Limited Edition is one of the very same…
Following in the footsteps of previous Avenger Automatic 45 Seawolf watches, the new UK exclusive Breitling watch elects a strong 45mm stainless steel case with a screw down knurled crown at 3 o’clock and a screw down case back, both assisting in a remarkable 3,000 metre water resistance. Convex sapphire crystal glass sits above the dial, offering anti-reflective coating on both sides for easy legibility, and sits almost flush with a stainless steel unidirectional rotating bezel. The bezel is ratcheted for easy manipulation, no matter whether you’re wearing thick pilot’s gloves or a diving suit, and is engraved with a stencilled Arabic numerals and a luminous marker at 12 o’clock.
Whether you’re a pilot high up in the sky of a cockpit or a diver exploring the dark depths of our oceans, instant readability of your watch dial is a must. Thankfully, the new Breitling Avenger Automatic 45 Seawolf Limited Edition has you covered with a smooth black centrepiece adorned with large Superluminova hardware. It includes two large sword-shaped hands for the hour and minutes, applied indexes including an upside triangle marker at 12 o’clock and a red-tipped seconds hand. The dial also greets us to a handy date window at 3 o’clock.
Powering the classic time and date functions is the Breitling 17 Calibre, an automatic-winding in-house movement perfect for a sea-worthy aviator. Alongside 26 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and a 38-hour power reserve, the movement has been officially COSC certified for its high levels of accuracy. Completing the new UK exclusive Breitling Avenger Automatic 45 Seawolf Limited Edition is two straps: a three-row link steel bracelet closed by a folding clasp or a black rubber strap with a classic pin buckle.
