Last year’s collaboration between TAG Heuer and Porsche made perfect sense, with many luxury watch and motorsport enthusiasts questioning why it hadn’t happened sooner. Why are they so perfect for one another? Both are united by the Carrera. For the great-grandson of TAG Heuer’s founder, Jack Heuer, the Carrera Panamericana race, reputed to be one of the most dangerous in the world, was the main inspiration behind the now legendary TAG Heuer Carrera watch collection. Similarly, the Porsche 911 Carrera took its name from the same race which has since become one of the car manufacturer’s most iconic models. Sharing this story, and a reputation for avant-garde design, innovative technology and unbeatable precision and innovative, TAG Heuer and Porsche become the perfect marriage. Now for 2022, the pair reunite with their second collaborative piece, the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Limited Edition.

Delivering the familiar architecture of the Carrera series, the new TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche watch presents a black DLC stainless steel case sitting on the wrist at 44mm. Despite the case being on the larger side for some, the short, faceted lugs allow it to sit compact on the wrist with the help of a textile-inspired leather strap. The strap has been specifically designed to evoke the same detailing of the seat upholstery seen in Porsche cars with yellow stitch detailing, a yellow lining and a black DLC steel folding clasp with double safety push buttons. The case of the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Limited Edition also boasts a black ceramic tachymeter bezel, a black DLC screw in crown with yellow lacquer detailing and a 100 metre water resistant rating.
The main draw of the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche watch is its dial decorated in a gorgeous black shimmery finish with three contrasting tri-compax counters with asphalt-like texture. More importantly, the dial showcases accents of bright yellow on the tip of the chronograph seconds hand and on the chronograph counters to match with the yellow hue used on the Porsche logo printed on the bezel. For easy legibility, Superluminova inserts are placed within the Arabic numerals on the hour and minute hands, neatly glowing yellow in the dark.

Powering the TAG Heuer Carrera X Porsche Limited Edition is the in-house Calibre Heuer 02, a movement manufactured entirely at the TAG Heuer factory in Chevenez. It consist of 168 parts including a column wheel and a vertical clutch and offers chronometric performance and an impressive power reserve of 80 hours. The movement also includes a redesigned oscillating rotor, just like that of the 2021 edition, which pays homage to the Porsche steering wheel.
