Swiss watch manufacturer Bell & Ross return with yet another square-shaped black ceramic pilots watch, but this time, opts for a colourful and graphic dial aiming its sights on athletes. The Bell & Ross BR 03 94 Multimeter showcases five scales around its dial’s centre for measuring heart rate, respirations, and speed of travel for three forms of movement.
How to read the Bell & Ross BR 03 94 Multimeter?
At first glance, the dial of the Bell & Ross BR 03 94 Multimeter watch looks a little overwhelming, and rightly so, since there’s such a wealth of useful information on display here. Masters of design, Bell & Ross, have not left us in the dark though and have beautifully segmented the wide range of data into two halves and five colours. On the right hand side of the dial, the scales themselves are put on display while the left side presents a chart explaining each of the five chronograph scales and their recommended timing lengths.
As we mentioned, the five different scales of the Bell & Ross BR 03 94 Multimeter Limited Edition are distinguished by their own colour. The most outer orange ring is a pulsometer scale which is used for the quick and accurate measuring of your heart rate while the next seafoam green scale displays an asthmometer scale for tracking your breathing. The middle track is decorated in white and delivers the popular tachymeter scale regulated for timing automobiles while the last two rings, decorated in yellow and beige are also tachymeters but ones calibrated with cyclists and runners in mind.

As if the dial of the Bell & Ross BR 03 94 Multimeter watch wasn’t already out of the realms of convention, its chronograph complication is unusually displayed to make room for the boldly-coloured scales. The two subsidiary counters at 3 and 9 o’clock for the 30 minutes counter and small seconds are halved in design and set with double-ended hands in orange and white to allow for legibility against the graphic print beneath. The central hands remain classic, finished in white Superluminova, offering the standard hours and minutes and central chronograph seconds hand. Lastly, a rounded cut-out date window is positioned in a less-than-traditional spot between the 12 and 1 o’clock markers.
For the rest of the Bell & Ross BR 03 94 Multimeter Limited Edition, we’re in familiar territory. The case is engineered from matte black ceramic and sits on the wrist at 42 millimetres in diameter. On top, the fixed rounded bezel is secured by the statement four screws and paired with sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment. The case also delivers a screw down crown and solid case back assisting in a 100 metre water resistance rating.
Housed inside the Bell & Ross BR 03-94 Multimeter watch is the BR-CAL.301 automatic chronograph movement which takes its base from the ETA 2894-2. The movement offers a standard 42 hour power reserve, 37 jewels and a frequency of 28,800vph. Completing the watch is a perforated black rubber strap secured by a black PVD coated stainless steel pin buckle. An additional strap is also available, this one engineered from ultra-resilient black textile.
