Although not officially participating in the Watches & Wonders 2022 event, Glasutte-based brand NOMOS still launched a stunning new series of timepieces just in time for the spring showdown. The boldest of the lot was two new NOMOS Club Campus watches suitably named after their bright dial colours: Deep Pink and Purple Blue.
Despite being one of the newest entries in the brand’s portfolio, the NOMOS Club Campus collection has become a flagship for the brand’s minimalistic flair. Launched in 2017, the series is described as an entrance model for those just getting into luxury watches offering unassuming cases, high-end handmade calibres and youthful dials. For the online-based Watches & Wonders event last year (a showcase they did participate in), they extended the series with another set of new dial colours named “Absolute Grey” and “Future Orange”. The two colours were designed to embody different stages of a student’s journey with the grey reference marking the beginning of their studies and the bold tangerine face symbolising the brightness of their future. This same narrative is marketed for the new NOMOS Club Campus in Deep Pink and Blue Purple watches, but this time as tokens of motivation, allowing young watch aficionados to achieve their goals and forge new paths.
Perfectly aligned with the ongoing trend for brightly coloured dials, the NOMOS Club Campus in Deep Pink and Blue Purple watches are anything but docile. Their centrepieces are finished in either a bold magenta pink or a slightly more reserved shade of violet with the recessed small seconds counter matching in colour. Both dial’s feature white Superluminova inserts on the rhodium-plated hour and minute hands as well as the large Arabic numerals for the upper half and Roman numerals on the lower half. For the small seconds, a contrasting touch of orange is chosen for the hand and for the Blue Purple dial, the same shade is added to the minutes track. The Deep Pink model sticks to a classic white minutes track.
Both NOMOS Club Campus Deep Pink and Blue Purple watches are offered in two sizes, 36mm and 38.5mm, nicely securing the collection’s reputation for its unisex timepieces. The cases are remarkably slim at only 8mm high and come engineered from two-pieces of stainless steel, both brightly polished for a modern look. There’s also domed sapphire crystal glass, thick elongated lugs and velour leather straps in grey and anthracite. Like most of the designs in the NOMOS Club Campus collection, the new 2022 releases come with blank screw down case backs which can be engraved with up to 88 characters.
Hidden behind the case back of the NOMOS Club Campus Deep Pink and Blue Purple watches is one of the brand’s in-house movements. The Alpha calibre was NOMOS’ first ever movement and can be found within many of their designs. It impresses with hours, minutes and small seconds, a frequency of 21,600vph and a power reserve of 43 hours. It is also manual winding.
