Bell & Ross bring back their legendary “Full Lum” dial but this time within their resolutely classic Vintage series. The new Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Full Lum has a clear intention for crystal clear legibility offering a complete Superluminova coated centrepiece for contrast during the day and most importantly, maximum luminescence at night.
For many, Bell & Ross are exclusively known for their square aviation-inspired timepieces. Their BR 01 collection is their staple line, featuring bold 46mm square-shaped cases interrupted by round, highly legible dials. More recently, the BR 05 was introduced reinterpreting the iconic architecture but with integrated bracelets and lugs for the ultimate luxury sports watch. Contrasting greatly to both of these collections is the Bell & Ross Vintage family which moving away from the “circle-within-a-square” watch delivers something entirely traditional and yet still fully admissible for the piloting world with Bell & Ross’ DNA at the core. The classically round cases are often paired with military black dials but for the new Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Full Lum, an entirely new aesthetic is chosen.
The luminous dial of the Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Full Lum watch follows in the footsteps of previous models in the same series with a luminescent green centrepiece dressed in an abundance of luminous accents. In the daylight, the dial is breathtaking in its own right offering a pale green finish which contrasts beautifully against the blackened hardware of the hands, numerals and indexes. At night however, the dial really shines (literally) with the Superluminova backdrop illuminating to match the same Superluminova coated hands and markers. The small rounded date aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock is also finished in the same luminous green allowing it to blend nicely into its surrounding.
For the rest of the Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Full Lum watch, all the classic traits of the Vintage family are present including the 41mm stainless steel case with rounded shapes and an overall sporty-chic design. The lugs and case feature nice, soft edges with satin-brushed and polished surfaces while on top, a bi-directional rotating bezel in black aluminium adds further contrast to the bright dial. The bezel also features a 60 minute diving scale which can be used in line with the watch’s 100 metre water resistance. We’re also treated to a screw in crown with crown guard and sapphire crystal glass on both the front and case back, the former offering anti-reflective treatment.
Beneath the stainless steel case, the Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Full Lum watch is powered by the BR-CAL.302 automatic winding movement. The Swiss made calibre takes its base from the Sellita SW300-1 and offers 25 jewels, a frequency of 28,800vph and a power reserve of 38 hours. It also ensures the classic running of hours, minutes and seconds and a date complication. Completing the Bell & Ross BR V2-92 Full Lum watch is a sporty black rubber strap and a satin-finished and polished stainless steel pin buckle.
