The NEW Maurice Lacroix Aikon Sprint Chronograph

Jewellery & Watch News

Maurice Lacroix makes history as part of their Geneva Watch Days 2021 releases with the Aikon Sprint Chronograph, the first Aikon Chronograph ever to feature a black DLC coated stainless steel case. The design also features for the very first time a selection of stunning pastel blue accents for an unmissable sporty aesthetic.

The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Chronograph has undergone several transformations over the last few years with several different dial colours, strap designs and case materials to choose from. Just recently, the design was launched in titanium armouring you with full scratch resistance and a stunning satin-polished finish. Now, for Geneva Watch Days 2021, the brand have launched the iconic integrated case and six-arm bezel in black DLC stainless steel. The case still wears at 44 millimetres in diameter but it’s matte DLC coating offers an impressively more sporty and stealthy appearance on the wrist compared to its steel and titanium counterparts. The same coating is applied to the fixed bezel with the double plates contrasting subtly in a gunmetal finish.

Another new addition to the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Chronograph is the use of pastel blue across elements of the design. The shade can be found on the small seconds dial, chronograph numerals, minutes track, central chronograph seconds hand and more obviously, on the rubber strap. Blue is certainly a popular colour in the luxury watch industry, but it’s most often seen in dark navy or cobalt. This pastel shade is rather unique and yet when paired with the rest of the ink black aesthetic, it is stunning.

Other than the new black and pastel blue colourway, the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Sprint Chronograph follows suit to the rest of the Aikon Chronograph series with a knurled crown at 3 o’clock, sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating and a water resistance of 200 metres. The gunmetal dial is also faithfully textured with an embossed square pattern and three subsidiary dials for the small seconds and chronograph counters for 12 hours and 30 minutes. The dial is also home to faceted hour and minutes hands coated in Superluminova, a pastel blue chronograph seconds hand and a double day and date window.

Driving these functions is the automatic winding ML112 calibre based on the Sellita SW500. It has 25 jewels, beats at 28,800vph and promises a 48-hour power reserve. For those with a love of the intricate form of automatic movements, you’ll be pleased to know the case back of the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Sprint Chronograph watch offers a view of the Swiss made calibre through a sapphire glass opening. Here you can admire the Côtes de Genève striped oscillating rotor and classic decorations like circular graining.
