In celebration of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee for 2022, C W Sellors has designed and handcrafted an exclusive range of Platinum Jubilee jewellery. The series of sterling silver and gold rings, pendants and bracelets are stamped with the new, collectible hallmark sanctioned by the British Hallmarking Council for the occasion.
Ascending the throne in 1952, Queen Elizabeth II celebrates 70 years on the throne in 2022. Her Royal Highness has ruled longer than any other Monarch in British history and as such, she has overseen some of the most significant changes in our Commonwealth. Known for her sense of duty and her devotion to a life of service, Her Majesty the Queen is the greatest figurehead in all of Britain. She sees public and voluntary service as one of the most important elements of her work and has links as both Royal Patron or President to over 600 charities, military associations, professional bodies and public service organisations. For these reasons, and so many others, the country comes together for the Platinum Jubilee Central Weekend from 2nd to 5th June to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
As part of the festivities, the body which oversees UK hallmarking, the British Hallmarking Council, has sanctioned a commemorative component mark which can be stamped on all precious metal goods including fine jewellery for the year 2022. The new mark has been designed by Thomas Fattorini Ltd and depicts ‘EIIR’ over ‘70’ within an orb to mark the number of years Her Majesty the Queen has been in service. Also joining the celebrations, C W Sellors has launched a new Platinum Jubilee jewellery collection which showcases a stunning series of bracelets, necklaces and rings stamped with this very hallmark.
Highly collectible, the C W Sellors Queens Jubilee jewellery collection is home to a breathtaking range of different designs, many of which are set with two of our best-selling British gemstones. You can find rings, pendants and bangles set with the finest Derbyshire Blue John. This semi-precious gemstone is found only in the hills of Castleton, Derbyshire, the same county C W Sellors calls home. After coming from the Treak Cliff Cavern in Castleton, our talented craftsman and women transform the soft lilac hues, bold purples and sunshine yellows into smooth polished gemstones before placing them into the sterling silver and gold settings.
Similarly, our C W Sellors Platinum Jubilee jewellery collection features several designs set with Whitby Jet, another rare gemstone this time sourced from the north-east coast of Yorkshire. Famous for its black, high lustre finish and mirror like shine, Whitby Jet looks spectacular in both sterling silver and gold. All of Blue John and Whitby Jet Platinum Jubilee jewellery is stamped with all the necessary hallmarks including the new commemorative Platinum Jubilee mark.
The C W Sellors Queens Jubilee jewellery collection also features several ingot necklaces and a range of disc bangles, pendants and rings. Rather than showcasing British gemstones at their centre, these designs put all their focus on the new commemorative hallmark sanctioned by the British Hallmarking Council for Her Majesty the Queen’s Jubilee. Front and centre of each sterling silver design are the six hallmarks: the official assay mark of the year it was manufactured, 2022 (X), the makers/sponsors mark which in this case is CWS for C W Sellors, the metal standard for 9ct Gold (375) or Sterling Silver (925 & Lion), the Assay Office of Birmingham’s anchor and the new Platinum Jubilee orb mark.
