Jewellery & Watch News
SevenFriday have always been ahead of the curve when it comes to digital technologies. They were one of the first luxury watch brands to equip their collections with an integrated NFC chip so users could enable their authentication and registration through the proprietary app. For 2022, the brand take this one step further with the release of the two SevenFriday T3/04 & T3/05 Tiger Edition watches which come with their own NFT certificate.
Ten years ago, words like “cryptocurrencies” and “blockchain technology” were little known to anyone. Now, they are a part of everyday life and as such, embedded in the luxury watchmaking world. For Zurich-based watch manufacturer SevenFriday, these technologies have become the solution for protecting their buyers from fake replicas of their watches. They began by integrating NFC chips into their watches in 2015 which would store numerical data like the serial number of the watch and a special code to identify it with a digital token on the blockchain. Now, with the release of the SevenFriday T3/04 & T3/05 Tiger Edition watches, they coupled the NFC chip with an NFT (non-fungible token) which acts as a digital record of authenticity and proof of ownership. The watches also come with a unique digital image certified by NFT as a collectible that you can trade or collect if you so wish.
As for the SevenFriday T3/04 & T3/05 Tiger Edition watches themselves, they boast all the original characteristics of the brand’s manufacture including four-layered construction dials made of a choice of green or red semi-transparent lens material to create its own urban jungle habitat. The material also constructs a large Tiger’s head at 9 o’clock while the K1 hardened mineral glass on top is printed with the “SevenFrRRRiday” lettering. The dial of both SevenFriday Tiger Edition watches also come with white luminous painted hands for the hours and minutes and a brushed galvanic bronze ring which contrasts beautifully to either dial colour.
The cases of the SevenFriday T3/04 & T3/05 Tiger Edition watches are the same for both models, crafted from 316L stainless steel with a refined glossy black Berlac lacquer finish in the grooved lining between the case and the bezel. The case sits on the wrist at 45mm in diameter with a height of 13mm and secures by a black leather strap with green canvas lining for the SevenFriday T3/04 Tiger Edition and a red canvas strap for the SevenFriday T3/05 Tiger Edition watch. We’re also promised a water resistance of 30 metres and the TMI-Seiko NH70 automatic winding movement which promises a healthy power reserve of 40 hours and a frequency of 21,600vph.
