Meistersinger’s award-winning Bell Hora watch makes a return as a 100-piece limited edition in celebration of the German watch manufacturer’s 20th anniversary.
Last spring, Meistersinger unveiled their stunning new Bell Hora collection which saw their discernible single-handed dial paired with a brand new complication: the ‘Sonnerie au passage’. Since their founding in 2001, Meistersinger have concentrated solely on the creation of one handed watches, using fine five-minute markings around the dial and a single hand. The designs are inspired by the original mechanical timepieces invented during the late Middle Ages, reminding us of the fleeting moments in time. Perfectly paired with this layout is the Sonnerie au passage complication which produces a friendly chime exactly on the hour.
Before today, the Meistersinger Bell Hora watch had been revealed on a dark blue dial and a salmon pink dial, both opting for modern numeral stylings and the current Meistersinger logo. For the new Meistersinger Bell Hora Anniversary Edition watch, the brand bring to life the style of early pocket watches with a historical finish featuring a crisp white backdrop, newly-shaped centrally mounted hand and classical script for the name of the brand and model. The majority of the hardware is dressed in black but with subtle lines of red and blue used to mark different 15 minute intervals. The dial also feature a new spiral decoration at the very centre in blue, a sharp arrow-head tipped hand and a 12 and 24 hour scale.
The Meistersinger Bell Hora Anniversary Edition is still powered by a Sellita SW 200 base movement with a sonnerie-au-passage module equipped on top. This permits a delicate sound to chime at every passing hour. For those moments when silence is a virtue, the pusher above the crown can be used to disengage the chiming. The movement also promises a frequency of 28,800vph, 26 jewels and a 38 hour power reserve.
As for the case, the new Meistersinger Bell Hora Anniversary Edition watch maintains all the familiar traits of its predecessors with a 43 millimetre diameter, 12.95 millimetre height and a polished stainless steel architecture. The crown at 3 o’clock allows for classic manipulation of the central hand while the additional crown at 2 o’clock is for disengaging the chime. The case also features sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective coating, a 4-screw case back assisting in a 50 metre water resistance and a brown alligator leather strap.
