Jewellery & Watch News
One of the biggest trends of the last few years is that of luxury sports watches and one of the leaders in that department is none other than the Maurice Lacroix Aikon. Distinguished by its six arm bezel and integrated bracelet, the Aikon remains the Swiss watch brand’s best-selling design and today it returns with a unique engraved finish inspired by metropolitan landscapes. Meet the new Maurice Lacroix Aikon Urban Tribe Limited Edition.
The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Urban Tribe watch has been designed in collaboration with Simon Noguiera, a freerunning specialist with a large social media following of 3.5 million subscribers and over 180 million views. He has recently become one of the latest members of Maurice Lacroix’s ML crew, a group of athletes, artists and entrepreneurs who believe in the brand’s philosophy “Success is a Journey, not a destination”. With this in mind, Simon Noguiera spends his time running, jumping and hanging from the walls of large city buildings using nothing but his limbs and relying entirely on his own balance, precision and timing.
For the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Urban Tribe Limited Ediiton, Simon Noguiera took inspiration from the architecture populating the world’s urban landscapes, a place he spends much of his life, with a unique case and bracelet design wonderfully embossed with an assortment of engravings. The motifs are reminiscent of Maori tattoos and not only deliver a rare finish but reflect the light beautifully. The engravings make their way across the entirety of the case, bezel, bracelet and even the oscillating rotor which can be seen spinning endlessly through the sapphire crystal case back. The Maurice Lacroix Aikon Urban Tribe watch also stands out for its stunning sun-brushed Clous de Paris dial finished in classic black.
Other than its fantastic assortment of engravings and the black Clous de Paris dial at the centre, the rest of the Maurice Lacroix Aikon Urban Tribe Limited Ediiton follows suit to previous Aikon models with an integrated 42 millimetre diameter stainless steel case equipped with the six pronged bezel, matching stainless steel bracelet with folding buckle, screw in crown at 3 o’clock and sapphire crystal glass coated with anti-reflective treatment. The screw in crown and screw down case back allow for a healthy water resistant rating of 200 metres while the dial ensures easy legibility with Superluminova markings on the hands, indexes and date window.
Powering the hours, minutes, seconds and date is the ML 115 automatic winding movement, a Swiss made calibre based on the reliable Sellita SW200-1. It delivers a 38 hour power reserve, 28 jewels and a high rate of frequency of 28,800vph. As we mentioned, you can watch the Swiss made movement hard at work through the exhibition case back alongside circular graining, snailling, Côtes de Genève decoration and the unique engraved rotor.
