Why Fabergé?
Fabergé, the world’s most iconic artist jeweller, creates extraordinary jewellery, watches and objets d’art, as well as bespoke commissions for a discerning international clientele. Founded in 1842, Fabergé has been the most revered name in jewellery ever since Peter Carl Fabergé created the fifty ingenious Imperial Easter Eggs for the Romanov family between 1885 and 1916. The celebrated series of 50 Imperial Easter eggs began in 1885 when Emperor Alexander III commissioned an Easter egg from Fabergé as an Easter present for his wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna. This 1885 Hen Egg had an opaque white enamelled outer ‘shell’, opening with a twist to reveal a first surprise - a matt yellow gold yolk. This in turn contains an enamelled chased gold hen that once held a replica of the Imperial Crown with a precious ruby pendant egg within.
Today, Fabergé’s Heritage collection draws inspiration from these historical masterpieces. Traditional materials and complex traditional techniques, such as the delicate art of guilloché enamelling and hand-engraving, make up the signature elements of this colourful and surprising collection.
