Bremont Launches WR-22 Chronograph & Williams Limited Edition Box Set

Jewellery & Watch News

Two iconic British watch brands announced a huge partnership last year as Bremont became the Official Timing and Watch Partner for the Williams Formula One motor racing team. Now the pair release their latest collaborative collection with the launch of three incredible timepieces. The first is a sporty chronograph, the Bremont WR-22 released as a permanent addition to the Supermarine collection, while the latter two come together as part of a 45-piece limited edition Bremont Williams Box Set.

One engineers luxury watches and the other high-speed vehicles, but Bremont and Williams have a volume of qualities in common. Both based in the county of Oxford, they share a combined passion for precision engineering and a love of in-house British manufacture. With that in mind, the pair have announced they will be bringing their talents together under one roof, creating both watch and car parts at Bremont’s manufacturing facility, The Wing. This comes less than a year after Bremont was announced as the Official Timing and Watch Partner for the Williams Formula One team which saw not only gloves, interview boards, transporters and garages imbued with the Bremont name, but Williams Racing drivers, George Russel and Canadian Nicholas Latifi taking to the Bahrain International Circuit wearing an exclusive Bremont ALT1-WT World Timer. Now, however, Bremont and Williams announce the first official Bremont Williams watch with the launch of the Bremont WR-22 Chronograph and the Williams Limited Edition Box Set.

Bremont Co-Founder Giles English comments, “Everyone at Bremont is incredibly proud to be working with Williams Racing, a team with an incredible history and such a poignant name in sport. The links between our two industries are considerable and as Official Timing Partner our relationship will be beneficial on many levels. Over the years we have seen a substantial crossover between the manufacturing skills in F1™ and watchmaking, we have employed several individuals from the F1™ industry to date. Complex machining to very high tolerances requires a significant investment in machinery and technical skillset, any extra support from the Williams technical team will undoubtedly be hugely valuable to our business. We’re excited to be working with such a renowned British technology business and look forward to seeing where we can take the partnership.”

The Bremont Supermarine WR-22 Chronograph

The permanent piece in the new Bremont Williams collection is the Bremont Supermarine WR-22 Chronograph. Immediately sporty with its contrasting panda dial and ceramic tachymeter bezel, this is a design that could do no better in embodying the spirit of the Williams Racing Team. The dial’s colourway takes inspiration from the racing team’s livery with a pure white metal backdrop treated with black snailed counters, a bold red chronographs seconds hand and electric blue accents on the small seconds counter at 9 o’clock and the 12 hour counter at 6 o’clock. The black PVD hour and minute hands blend in beautifully with the chronograph counters and yet still deliver exceptional legibility with their Superluminova inserts.

The case of the Bremont WR-22 watch follows suit with an imposing and masculine aesthetic inclusive of a bi-directional rotating bezel with ceramic insert and a 43mm diameter. The case itself is engineered from stainless steel using the brand’s Trip-Tick case construction for ultimate durability. There’s also a scratch resistant PVD case middle, anti-reflective sapphire crystal glass, screw down chronograph pushers and a screw in crown, all of which assist in a 200 metre water resistant rating. When the Bremont Supermarine WR-22 Chronograph isn’t strapped to the wrist by the steel bracelet or black nubuck leather band, you can admire the BE-53AE automatic winding movement through the case back. It features a special rotor inscribed with the Williams Racing logo and detailing to evoke the shape of a car tyre’s rim. We’re also guaranteed a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, a 42 hour power reserve and COSC certification.

The Bremont Williams Limited Edition Box Set

In addition to the Bremont Supermarine WR-22 Chronograph watch, the British watch manufacturer has launched 45 limited edition Bremont Williams Box Sets to celebrate their new partnership. The set includes two watches, the FW44 Chrono and the FW44 Classic. The former is essentially a black PVD version of the Bremont WR-22 above with a black DLC treated stainless steel 43mm case with matching lugs, a black ceramic bezel, screw down crown and black nubuck leather strap. There’s also the same exhibition case back, COSC certified BE-53AE automatic winding movement, 200 metre water resistant rating and bold panda-style dial.

As for the FW44 Classic watch in the Bremont Williams Limited Edition Box Set, we’re welcomed to a whole new timepiece. This 40mm time-only model pays homage to Williams Racing with its darker ‘Oxford Blue’ pantone used on the dial which also extends out onto its nubuck leather strap. The dial also exposes a blue dial ring with minutes track, a yellow 60 minute marker, Superluminova hands and a nickel plated date window at 6 o’clock. The case is a classic in satin-polished stainless steel with a scratch resistant PVD treated case barrel, unadorned bezel and sapphire crystal glass with a 100 metre water resistant rating. Within, the BE-92AV automatic chronometer-certified movement beats at 28,800vph and offers a 38 hour power reserve. The Bremont FW44 Classic also reveals a custom decorated rotor with the Williams Racing logo.

With the purchase of each 45-piece limited edition Bremont Williams Racing Box Set, you’ll also get a once in a lifetime ‘Race Day’ experience hosted at Grove, the home of Williams Racing. You’ll be taken on a guided tour of the race team HQ and the Williams Racing Museum to learn all about the team’s history. After that, you’ll be able to see the ‘Mission Control’ room where the UK based technical team review Grand Prix race metrics live and liaise with the team on location at each race venue, supporting the drivers and pit crew. This really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a must for any Williams or Bremont fan.
