Jewellery & Watch News
For the second half of 2021, Bell & Ross have introduced two new BR 05 models both highlighting the luxe side of their urban sports watch. The first is the BR 05 Gold Skeleton with the famous “square-within-a-circle” aesthetic in solid rose gold combined with a complex skeletonised dial. The second maintains the classic stainless steel case but for the first time comes dressed in a total of 172 white diamonds. Today we’re taking a look at this very model: the Bell & Ross BR 05 Diamond.
At C W Sellors, we know a thing or two about diamonds. From single solitaire engagement rings to clusters of sparkling stones set within a pendant, the purchase of any significant piece of diamond jewellery is one of the most important decisions any person can make. Diamond watches on the other hand are somewhat more of a rarity, especially in the form of a luxury sports watch like the BR 05. Despite its strong lugs, integrated bracelet and masculine case shape, the Bell & Ross BR 05 Diamond is just as suited to women0 as men and its brilliant array of white diamonds make it just as much a piece of jewellery as a timekeeping instrument.
The 40mm stainless steel case of the Bell & Ross BR 05 Diamond watch is set with a total of 172 diamonds with a total weight of 0.88 carats. The diamonds are set within the cushion-shaped bezel taking up every bit of space left behind by the four screws at each corner. To match, the smooth black dial is adorned with 11 diamond dot indices, with one at every hour marker other than at 3 o’clock where a date window steps in. For an even more brilliant sparkle, the Bell & Ross BR 05 Diamond watch is available to order on a stainless steel bracelet with links set with a further 218 diamonds with a total weight of 2.84 carats. Alternatively, there is a plain satin-polished steel bracelet or a black rubber strap to choose from.
Other than its new sparkling decor, the Bell & Ross BR 05 Diamond watch follows suit to previous BR 05 models with a screw down crown with crown guard at 3 o’clock, sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment, a water resistance of 100 metres and an exhibition case back. The dial also maintains it’s urban-esque DNA with a black sunray finish, large applique numerals filled with Superluminova and metal skeletonised hands for the hours and minutes also offering glow in the dark capability.
Powering the hours, minutes, seconds and date complication is the BR-CAL.321 automatic winding movement which has been adjusted to Bell & Ross standards but remains based off the classic Sellita SW 300-1. It comes equipped with 25 jewels, promises a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and allows for a power reserve of up to 38 hours. As mentioned, you can admire the movement and it’s engraved 360 degree oscillating rotor through a sapphire crystal exhibition case back.
