Since its founding in Copenhagen in 1904, Georg Jensen has reached the far corners of the world, spreading joy and elegance with their immaculate creations. From sterling silver bracelets to diamond decorated timepieces, the luxury Scandinavian jewellery brand has yet to fall short in adorning only the most sophisticated of men and women with their designs. Their luxury homeware collections similarly bring together Danish modernism for a pure, functional and sophisticated living aesthetic. Here’s everything you need to know about Georg Jensen…
A Brief History of Georg Jensen
Georg Jensen, the gentleman who founded the Georg Jensen jewellery brand you see today, began his career as a sculpture after becoming inspired by the nature surrounding his home of Copenhagen. His initial creations were widely praised, and it encouraged him to open up his own silversmithy in 1904. Rather quickly, the Georg Jensen brand became renowned for its modern Scandinavian ceramics, sculptures and jewellery. His love for nature remained a crucial part of the brand’s DNA with fruits, blossoms, leaves and other mesmerising organic shapes being found within his work. By the 1920’s, Georg Jensen established stores all over the world including New York, Paris and London.
After the death of Georg Jensen in 1935, his son Søren Georg Jensen took over the family business. In doing so, the direction of the brand also changed, taking on a new stylistic approach bringing life more geometric and abstract pieces. Designers like Nanna and Jorgen Ditzel, Nebbia Astrid, Henning Koppel, and Arno Malinowski were hired to create their own collections of Georg Jensen jewellery bringing the popularity of the brand to new heights in the 1960’s. Also during this decade, Georg Jensen created their first range of designer watches. The famous Georg Jensen Vivianna bangle debuted in 1969 featuring a hand-winding Chopard movement, a design which remains a part of the brand’s portfolio today.
The Georg Jensen Jewellery Collections

One of their most popular lines of today is the Georg Jensen Fusion collection. Dressed in rose gold, white gold and yellow gold with some rare pieces adorned with diamonds, these stunning designer pieces are built to be just unique as you.
The Georg Jensen Curve collection is another fine example of their Scandinavian modernism, designed by Copenhagen designer Regitze Overgaard. The series was inspired by the perfect curve, using the simplicity of sculptural gold and silver to achieve effortlessly worn bangles, earrings, pendants and rings. We also highly recommend a look at the Georg Jensen Infinity jewellery line, a perfect choice for those shopping for a loved one. This collection brings to life the infinity symbol, one of commitment, love and devotion, within sterling silver jewellery designs for a romantic gift.
A more recent launch from Georg Jensen is their Moonlight Grapes collection. Georg Jensen himself once compared the splendour of sterling silver to the radiance of the Scandinavian moon and it is this enchanting comparison that inspires Georg Jensen Moonlights Grapes jewellery. Each piece embraces the Art Nouveau style of classic Georg Jensen designs with contemporary beaded motifs that evoke an impression of movement and an undeniable sense of glamour.
