The Marco Bicego Jaipur Jewellery Collection

Jewellery & Watch News

A jewellery collection of colour and engraved 18ct gold, the Marco Bicego Jaipur line takes inspiration from the city in India of the same name, bringing to life the colourful culture through breathtaking coloured prism-cut gemstones and an unmistakable chain design. There are two sub-collections forming the Marco Bicego Jaipur jewellery family: the Marco Bicego Jaipur Gold and the Marco Bicego Jaipur Colour. Here’s everything you need to know about each…

The Marco Bicego Jaipur Gold Jewellery Collection

The original Marco Bicego Jaipur jewellery collection was one of the first fine jewellery lines created by master jeweller Marco Bicego when the brand was founded in 2000. The series redesigns the classic chain in a contemporary way, utilising circular ring elements linked to together for a three-dimensional display of colour and sparkle. The irregular shapes of the 18 carat gold links showcase the Italian Maison’s famous ancient Florentine burin technique which gives them a mesmerising, brushed finish for an organic, modern look.

The silky finish and tactile textures decorating Marco Bicego Jaipur jewellery is created using the brands’ burin technique which utilises a special engraving tool originating from the Renaissance period. It creates tiny grooves across the metal surface, all flowing in the same pattern, to create a satisfying, silky sensation to the touch and an enchanting sight for the eyes. All of the pieces in the signature Marco Bicego Jaipur Gold jewellery collection features this technique, whether it be across the irregular shaped links of large diamond set pendants or 18 carat gold multi-band rings.

There are also several pieces within the Marco Bicego Jaipur Gold jewellery collection which transform the traditional chain even further, elongating the organic links for a sensual and informal finish. Known as the Marco Bicego Jaipur Link jewellery pieces, these designs are also strictly handcrafted from 18 carat gold and chiselled meticulously by hand using the bulino technique. They are beautifully irregular, contemporary and organic in their nature, with many examples dressed in brilliant cut white diamonds.

The Marco Bicego Jaipur Colour Jewellery Collection

For those that like their jewellery full of colour, you’ll be amiss without a piece from the Marco Bicego Jaipur Colour jewellery collection. Inspired by the colourful sights seen within the Indian city of the same name, these 18 carat gold jewellery pieces are all set with multi-coloured, prism-cut gemstones. The gemstones originate from the “pink city” of Jaipur, in particular the capital of Rajasthan famous for its rose quartz buildings. It is here that the process of cutting stones has been perfected over centuries with specialised engravers finding the ideal cut to let the vivid colour of the stone shine through.

Since their founding in 2000, Marco Bicego has specialised in the use of coloured gemstones and the Marco Bicego Jaipur Colour jewellery collection is just one of several examples of this prowess. They employ the same tradition as the specialist engravers from the city of Jaipur, deliberately selecting only the finest gemstones and cutting them exquisitely to draw its beauty and light. Some of just a few of the coloured gemstones showcased within the Marco Bicego Jaipur Colour jewellery collection include blue London topaz, amethyst, white mother of pearl, citrine, pink tourmaline and green tourmaline.

The mesmerising coloured gemstones are then placed within 18 carat gold settings engraved with the silky finish of the bulino technique. This ties Marco Bicego Jaipur Colour jewellery beautifully together with the irregularly-shaped link designs previously mentioned, with the gemstones themselves varying in size as they dot across the different necklace and bracelet chains. There are also gorgeous Marco Bicego Jaipur Colour earrings, including simple single-coloured studs and more dramatic coloured gemstone drop earrings as well as Marco Bicego Jaipur Colour rings which are calling to be stacked across the fingers for a colourful, magical finish.
