An easy first choice for recreational divers, the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf collection remains one of the Swiss watch manufacturer’s most popular and affordable modern tool watches. Since 1953, it has continuously evolved, showcasing complications like the world timer and GMT as well as several fun colourways for those that want their divers watch to stand out from the crowd. Now, Zodiac advance the design once again, but this time in a more notably serious direction. Meet the new Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro Diver series…
Until now, the core Zodiac Super Sea Wolf collection has featured cases with a water resistance between 100 and 200 metres. That’s more than enough for recreational diving and at the price they’re offering, Zodiac easily compete with other entry-level dive watch manufacturers like Seiko and Tissot. For the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro Diver however, your limits for underwater exploration are increased much further as each premium design boasts a 300 metre water resistance and meets ISO certification.
Assisting in the improved water tightness of each Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro Diver watch is a new 42 millimetre sized case engineered from 316L stainless steel and a screw in security crown at 3 o’clock engraved with the Zodiac emblem. The cases are also paired with unidirectional rotating bezels crafted from K1 crystal and dressed in a range of bold and bright colours inspired by bioluminescent algae and sea life found in the depths of the ocean – not accidentally the only light emitted at depths of more than 200 metres.
There are currently five Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro Diver watches to choose from, all matching in their 42mm steel cases but differing in their choice of bezel and dial colour. Reference ZO3553 is a favourite of ours, featuring a classic black sunray dial with an orange seconds track, orange outlined Superluminova indexes and an orange seconds hand which contrast wonderfully to the bright white K1 crystal bezel. There’s also reference ZO3555 with a white dial, navy seconds track and an orange bezel, reference ZO3554 with a black dial, white track and blue bezel and reference ZO3552 with a timelessly classic all-black attire. The final model, reference ZO3556, is another favourite of ours for its unmissable display of neon. It features a lime green bezel, a neon pink flange and seconds hand and a glossy white dial.
All five Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro Diver watches are completed by a 7-link stainless steel bracelet, but you can also find a selection of durable FKM rubber accordion straps for purchase to complete the colourful aesthetic. The bracelets are fitted with classic butterfly deployment clasps while the rubber straps secure by pin-style buckles. The Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro Diver watches continue to impress with a screw down case back and a domed sapphire crystal glass front.
The final upgrade for the next generation Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Pro Diver is the movement. The Sellita SW-200 automatic winding calibre has been chronometer certified (COSC) which means it has a guaranteed accuracy of +6 and -4 seconds per day. It also delivers a healthy power reserve of 38 hours and fuels the steady movement of the decked-out Superluminova hands for the hours, minutes and seconds.
