Jewellery & Watch News
Louis Erard’s best-selling Le Régulateur watch has seen itself at the centre of several collaborations over the last two years. Today, the model is given a modern all-black treatment dressed in accents of bright green owing to Geneva-based design studio Label Noir. Released during the Geneva Watch Days 2022 event, the Louis Erard Le Régulateur Label Noir watch is a limited edition of just 178 pieces and is ready to order now.
For the past couple of years, Louis Erard have begun to showcase a new enthusiasm for creativity, harnessing the talents of industry legends like Eric Giroud and Vianney Halter as well as utilising rare and premium materials. Some of our personal favourites have been the Excellence Email Grand Feu watch and its intricate enamel dial, the Excellence Guilloche Main with a concentric guilloche dial and the range of Excellence Régulateur Aventurine, Lapis Lazuli & Malachite Limited Editions which boasted colourful stones for their displays. For their latest, Louis Erard turn to Label Noir who famously apply black DLC coatings to world-famous watches.
The familiar case of the Louis Erard Le Régulateur returns, including its 42mm diameter, 12.25mm height and domed sapphire crystal glass. New to the design is a black DLC coating which covers the entire case, lugs, bezel, fir-tree crown and even the screwed down exhibition case back. The latter also debuts a new feature, a green tinted sapphire crystal insert which offers a subdued view of automatic winding movement inside. The Louis Erard Le Régulateur Label Noir watch still maintains a 50 metre water resistant rating.
For us, the dial of the Louis Erard Le Régulateur Label Noir Limited Edition is the real star of the show offering a selection of finishes and accents that makes reading the separated hours, minutes and seconds a breeze. The main element of the dial is black with vertically brushed satin finishing while the large off-centre hours at 12 o’clock contrasts with a glossy black coating. The hour subdial also stands out for its silvered polished outline and matches its fir-tree hand with that of the minutes. Meanwhile, the small seconds complication at 6 o’clock attracts attention with a bright green hand to pair with the white and green dotted minute track printed around the circumference. Additional accents of green can be found at 3 o’clock where the two colliding brands, Louis Erard and Label Noir, showcase their logos.
Powering the regulator set up is the Sellita SW 266-1 automatic winding movement, the same Swiss made calibre to power all of Louis Erard’s Le Régulateur watches. It is élaboré grade so you can expect some nice finishing through the case back including a custom Louis Erard signed rotor in black lacquer. We’re also promised a 38 hour power reserve, 31 jewels and a frequency of 28,800vph. Completing the Louis Erard Le Régulateur Label Noir watch is a black Cordura fabric strap detailed with neon green stitching and black leather lining. It closes by a black PVD pin buckle and comes equipped with quick-release spring bars so it can be easily swapped for something else.
