New for 2020, Garmin have released a new edition of their legendary Garmin Tactix Delta smartwatch. The extraordinary fourth generation instrument is still designed with adventure seekers in mind with a rugged case design, large 1.4inch display and some remarkable new James Bond-esque technologies including stealth mode and a kill switch feature.
Like all Garmin Tactix watches before it, the Garmin Tactix Delta Sapphire Edition smartwatch is tested to U.S military standards to ensure its scratch-resistant domed sapphire lens, black DLC-coated steel bezel and black PVD-coated steel rear cover are up to any task. The case, which measures to a striking 51mm in size, is not for the minimalist and makes an instant impression with its stealthy all black DLC coated finish and waterproof silicon strap.
Housed beneath scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass is a crisp sunlight visible display where you can find a world of smartwatch functionality at your fingertips. New for the Garmin Tactix Delta Sapphire Edition smartwatch is stealth mode. We have seen this feature in other Instinct models and the MARQ Commander, but this is the first time it has appeared in the tactical training range. The mode allows you to completely disable the storing and sharing of your information including your GPS position, wireless connectivity and communication. The new kill switch feature complements this, as a simple touch of a button can instantly wipe the device of all user memory. A fun feature for the everyday user or a serious requirement for real-life heroes.
Alongside the new stealth mode, the Garmin Tactix Delta smartwatch comes with several other incredible tactical features. Its night vision capability allows you to easily switch between daytime view and night-time view with a screen that can be read by night vision goggles. Meanwhile, the unique Jumpmaster mode allows skydivers to easily reach their objective thanks to a special feature which calculates high-altitude release points according to military guidelines. For missions with friends, the dual-position format also allows you to sync your location with others by seeing both the universal transverse mercator (UTM) and military grid reference system (MGRS) on the same screen.
For the days when adventures take a calmer route, the Garmin Tactix Delta Sapphire smartwatch comes with classic ABC sensors for altimeter for elevation data, barometer to monitor weather and 3-axis electronic compass. It also has expedition mode, TOPO and ski maps, ClimbPro feature, Turn by Turn navigation, round trip routing and access to over 41,000 golf courses around the world with full-colour CourseView maps and the PlaysLike Distance feature. You are also treated to classic smart notifications, music apps with storage for up to 2,000 songs and the handy Garmin Pay feature.
